Montecristi Golf Resort & Villas stands as a testament to the vision and passion of its founder, Mr. Carlos Gonzalez-Artigas Diaz. Through his foresight and dedication, what began as a 9-hole course has evolved into a premier 18-hole championship course that has transformed the landscape of Manabí.Personally, I had the privilege to begin my golfing journey thanks to Carlos, a dear friend and business partner of 21 years. After a knee injury forced me to stop playing soccer and volleyball, golf became my new passion, one I also enjoyed playing with my son and recently my daughter.The course, which initially featured only holes 1, 2, 3, 12, 13, 14, 15, 17, and 18, slowly expanded over time to include the remaining holes, culminating in the completion of a full 18-hole layout.Golf at Montecristi has not only introduced me to a wonderful community of friends, but has also shown me the unique challenge of competing against the course itself. It’s a rare sport where camaraderie prevails, with partners celebrating good shots and encouraging each other through the tough ones.Under the vision of its founder, Montecristi Golf Resort has positioned Manabí as a key player in Ecuador’s golfing scene. The course now hosts national tournaments, including the National Open and Junior Tour, and allows us to connect with fellow golfers from esteemed clubs across the country, such as La Costa, Guayaquil Country Club, Arrayanes, Los Cerros, Los Chillos, Quito Tennis and Golf Club, and Cuenca Tennis and Golf.I look forward to seeing more local residents, especially the youth, embrace this sport, and I invite everyone to experience the beauty and community that Montecristi Golf Resort offers.
